To be eligible for most leave types, a UT System employee must be scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week for a continuous period of at least four and one-half months. The exceptions are jury service or to serve as a witness in an official capacity, to comply with a subpoena in an official capacity or, if a peace officer, for legislative leave.
UT System offers many options for time off. Paid time off consists of holidays and paid leave. Unpaid time off includes Family & Medical Leave, Parental Leave, and Leave without Pay. Be aware that while Family & Medical Leave and Parental Leave are unpaid, you are required to use your available paid leave (sick, vacation, state compensatory time, FLSA overtime and floating holiday) concurrently.
