On September 11, 2017, ODOP Inspector Charlie Patnode and UT HSC San Antonio Police Officer Alicia Dockens carried the names of two officers as they climbed up and then down, 110 flights, ringing the bell to honor their sacrifice

On June 24, 2017, Inspector Charlie Patnode (ODOP) and Officer Bion Bell (UTEP) participated in the annual COPS on Top hike to the top of Guadalupe Peak

On February 20, 2016 ODOP Chief of Staff David Ferrero, along with SRRT Medical Director Dr. Jeffrey Metzger and UT Arlington Corporal Jonathan King attended Texas City Cub Scout Pack 274's 2016 Blue and Gold Banquet where scouts of the Sheep Dog Patrol crossed over to Boy Scouts, led by Den Leader and UTMB Officer Johnny Soliz.

Ferrero, Metzger and King were honored as Home Town Heroes and inspiration to the Scout Pack.
