Systemwide Executive Compliance Committee

Responsibility for oversight of the Systemwide Compliance Program and the execution of the Compliance Charter rests with the Systemwide Executive Compliance Committee (ECC). The Systemwide ECC provides oversight of the Systemwide Compliance program by:

  • Approving the Systemwide Compliance Charter, and at least every three years, reviewing the Charter and making recommendations for revisions based on changes in organizational structure, UTS policies, Regents’ Rules and Regulations, identified needs, and risks
  • Reviewing reports by the Systemwide CCEO on the status of the Systemwide Compliance program, Systemwide Compliance Office, and institutional compliance programs
  • Staying informed of current and emerging risks impacting the Systemwide Compliance program and U.T. institutions
  • Making recommendations to the Systemwide CCEO regarding compliance policies and training
  • Reviewing and approving Systemwide Compliance program plans and risk assessments;
  • Ensuring the Systemwide CCEO has autonomy, appropriate authority, access to information, and resources to perform the responsibilities of the role
  • Reviewing significant compliance findings identified through audits, investigations, program effectiveness reviews, or other means
  • Ensuring that remediations and corrective actions of significant compliance findings are consistent and appropriate for the infraction to mitigate similar future occurrences
  • Chartering advisory committees with U.T. System and institutional compliance subject matter experts who examine best practices for high-risk areas and report periodically to the Systemwide ECC
  • Monitoring the performance and progress of the Systemwide Compliance Office against established priorities
  • Providing oversight of institutional compliance programs to ensure alignment with systemwide expectations, UTS policies, Regents’ Rules and Regulations, and applicable requirements

The Systemwide ECC is chaired by the Chancellor. Other members include the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer, the Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, and the Vice Chancellor and General Counsel.
