Clark Moreland, lecturer of English and director of the Heimmermann Center for Engaged Teaching, joined the faculty of The University of Texas Permian Basin in 2009. He founded the Heimmermann Center in 2020, which promotes the use of active, student-centered teaching strategies throughout West Texas. A member of the UT System Faculty Developers Team, Moreland’s research is centered on expanding access and belonging in emerging learning environments. His passion for teaching, mentoring, and student success has earned Moreland a number of awards, including the UT System Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award in 2014 and the Jim Olson Award in 2020, which recognizes a faculty member who represents the mission and values of UT Permian Basin.
