Nick Long is currently the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Budget and Planning at the University of Texas System. In that role, he is responsible for oversight and coordination of the System’s $20 billion annual budget, for management of the UT System Administration budget, and for development of long range strategic financial plans for each of the System’s 14 institutions.
Prior to joining UT System, Nick was a management consultant focusing on supporting higher education institutions on finance and information technology matters. He has extensive experience in the higher education industry earned through nearly fifteen years in management consulting with a focus on higher education.
Nick’s management consulting experience has involved working with institutions on matters related to strategic financial management, budgeting and reporting, information technology, and student financial services. He has strong experience working with senior academic and administrative leaders at both public and private institutions around the world. Through his interactions with higher education professionals and the execution of client engagements, he has gained a unique perspective regarding how higher education institutions work and the challenges that higher education as an industry faces today.
