Kamilla L. Stokes

Assistant General Counsel

Kamilla Stokes is a Assistant General Counsel in the Health Law Section of the Office of General Counsel where she practices medical malpractice litigation and medical disciplinary defense.

Ms. Stokes has over 25 years of litigation experience concentrated in medical malpractice, discovery management, dispute resolution, and constitutional law. Before joining The University of Texas System, she served as the Director of Litigation in the General Counsel’s Office of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  Prior to that, she spent fifteen years as an Assistant Attorney General representing governmental health institutions and defending State entities in tort liability lawsuits. 

Ms. Stokes received her JD cum laude from Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, after being awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Journalism from The University of Mississippi.
