David S. Hansen

Assistant General Counsel

David Hansen serves as Assistant General Counsel in the Business Law Section of the Office of General Counsel.  Mr. Hansen specializes in tax, and is Board Certified in Tax by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

He retired from ScottHulse, P.C., a law firm in El Paso where he was the shareholder attorney in charge of the Tax section.  There he cultivated a broad practice including state, local, and international tax matters, handling tax transactional matters, tax planning, and litigation.  He also has experience with estate planning, trademarks, and general business and contract matters.

Mr. Hansen received his B.A. (Cum Laude) from the College of William and Mary, an M.B.A. from Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, a J.D. (Cum Laude) from the University of Texas School of Law, and an L.L.M. in Tax from the NYU School of Law.  He was also Board Chair of the West Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross, is an Eagle Scout, and has received a patent.
