UT System 22nd Annual Legal Conference

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The 2022 UT System Legal Conference was held September 29-30, at The University of Texas System Building in Austin. The conference was developed to offer informative and practical sessions on a wide range of topics relevant to attorneys at UT System academic and healthcare institutions. Our speakers shared their expertise and insights on high-profile legal issues, as well as on matters that higher education attorneys face on a day-to-day basis. Given the variety of our attorneys’ practice areas, the program included several breakout sessions that provided attendees more options that related to their fields.

Conference highlights included a Supreme Court update by Erwin Chemerinsky, a conversation with sitting Justice Brett Busby of the Texas Supreme Court, and Judge Maya Guerra Gamble who presided over the defamation trial against Alex Jones. Sessions also covered ethics, a multi-state workforce, data privacy, cybersecurity, negotiations, accommodations, internal overpayment investigations, real estate transactions, federal investigations, Title IX, and the current litigation landscape in Texas.

In addition to the substantive legal topics covered, the conference provided attorneys across the System a unique opportunity to strengthen relationships with colleagues.
