Document Description
This research brief focused on teaching and, in that context, explored faculty work at UT System institutions. The multiple roles and responsibilities of faculty were considered — teaching, engaging in scholarship/research, and providing public service. It also answered questions about how much time faculty members spent on instruction and instruction-related activities, and about who was teaching undergraduate students and the lower-division courses that are critical to student engagement. Using data from the National Survey of Student Engagement, this brief provides evidence to the multiple interactions students have with faculty, both inside and outside the classroom.
