Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and Houston-based Memorial Hermann have recently completed a new networking contracting agreement. This means that Memorial Hermann facilities and health care providers are once again part of the BCBSTX PPO network effective retroactively to April 1, 2026, for commercial health plans, including UT SELECT. As noted below, the agreement will take effect on May 1, 2026, for Medicare Advantage plans, including UT CARE.
For UT SELECT members: Due to a special arrangement between UT System, BCBSTX, and Memorial Hermann which extended in-network status for UT SELECT members through the month of April, UT SELECT members’ claims have continued to be processed at the in-network level. Therefore, UT SELECT members who have recently received services through Memorial Hermann do not need to take any action at this time regarding their claims.
For UT CARE members: As part of the new contracting agreement, Memorial Hermann is rejoining the Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (PPO) network, effective May 1, 2026. This means UT CARE Medicare Advantage PPO participants will once again be able to use their UT CARE plan benefits for services received from Memorial Hermann providers and facilities.
