Enrollment in the University of Texas System is up for the second year in a row. According to preliminary data, more than 256,000 students are enrolled in UT institutions. Lydia Riley works in the UT System Office of Academic Affairs. She says many universities nationwide have been dealing with enrollment losses over the last decade. “And while those declines have begun to slow a little bit nationally, we are really fortunate that UT institutions have been somewhat insulated, partly because of our booming population in Texas, but also because of our commitment to ensuring access and affordability.” The University of Texas at Austin has its largest student body ever with more than 53,000 students.
