The Honorable Tom Loeffler

Former Congressman Tom Loeffler is an influential leader in creating public policy at both the state and federal levels.

Upon graduating from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law, Mr. Loeffler served as legislative council to Senator John Tower and special assistant for legislative affairs to President Gerald Ford. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1978 representing the 21st District of Texas for four terms. Beginning with his second term, he served as Republican chief deputy whip. Tom was called upon by President Ronald Reagan to serve as principal coordinator for Central America in the White House Office of legislative Affairs, in which his capacity his assistance in resolving sensitive foreign policy issues led to the development of the Wright-Reagan Plan for Central America. Tom is founder and senior partner of the Loeffler Group LLP with offices in San Antonio, Austin, and Washington, D.C.

Tom is a life member of the Texas Exes. He has served on the U. T. System Board of Regents, including as its Chairman, from 1989-2001. Tom is currently a member of the Chancellor's Council, the Board of Trustees of the U. T. Law School Foundation, and the U. T. Austin Development Board.

Tom has three children, Lance, Cullen, and Lauren. He and his wife, Susan, live in San Antonio.
