Effective teaching is a matter of creating connections so that students can see why subject matter matters AFTER the course is over.
My goal is to help students get ready for the next step in their life. Since I teach at the college level, that means preparing students for life when they are no longer students and no longer have to care only about grades or exams. This is a frightening but exciting time for students and it is a privilege to help them figure out how to make their way in the world.
