My interest in teaching sociology has grown over the years, but it truly became a passion when I began to expect more from both myself and from students, sparking a real fire of engagement among us all.
I have learned that as a teacher, I may show my own vulnerability and explain to students that I am as likely to learn from them as they are to learn from me. I know that when I have high expectations of students and demonstrate to them that we all contribute to each other’s learning, we all benefit. In this way, we all become producers of knowledge and contribute to creating a healthy, vibrant learning environment.
