Teaching is a truly transformative process that impacts all aspects of my life. I feel very fortunate to be an educator who not only teaches about our social world but constantly learns directly from my students.

Although my students are largely economically and racially marginalized by society, they are not powerless, and I strive to empower them through knowledge and scholarship, what I call empowerment through student engagement, to build up their human, social, and cultural capital.
