In medical education, I have always felt that in addition to factual knowledge, physician teachers teach skills, attitudes, and behaviors not only to the medical students and residents who work with us, but to our patients and to other health care providers as well who are necessary parts of the healthcare team.

Throughout my education and my career, I have always been influenced and inspired by the people who taught me. I am involved in teaching as a way of continuing this process - I hope that my involvement as a teacher helps to motivate and inspire my learners and I continue to learn both in preparing for teaching and in the process of teaching as my learners ask questions and bring new information to the interaction.
