For the past 29 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching and mentoring some of the brightest and most enthusiastic biomedical researchers that one can imagine.

No two students are alike. I am passionate about one-on-one teaching and I feel it makes graduate education in Texas and the United States the best in the world. Each student or trainee is a new class, and each one requires unique learning objectives. For the past 29 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching and mentoring some of the brightest and most enthusiastic biomedical researchers that one can imagine. Bringing innovation to students and trainees encourages them to seek a higher level of scientific achievement than their normal comfort level. I also believe large-scale collaborative research is important when mentoring students — I remind them to view themselves as part of a large community of scientists.
