The wonder my students express when they learn something unexpected and new is an endless source of inspiration.
At its foundation teaching should be synonymous with inspiring wonder and with inserting that wonder into a model for the process of making knowledge. I think good teaching equips students with an understanding of what it means to be a scholar: to question and think critically, to cultivate passion for learning, and to examine and challenge their worldviews. I work to make sure that my students are aware that I am also a student of what they can teach me. I believe this symbiosis makes for a genuine and collaborative environment that fosters an enriching learning process.
