Society of Thoracic Surgeons

UT-HIP uses the Aggregated risk-adjusted reports from the Adult Cardiac Surgery Database, the world’s premier clinical outcomes registry for adult cardiac surgery, to analyze outcomes for common cardiac surgery procedures, such as Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), Aortic valve replacement (AVR) +/- CABG, Mitral valve repair/ replacement (MVRR) +/- CABG, Multi-valve (MultiV) +/- CABG and Multiprocedural (includes all analyzed procedures).

UT-HIP currently houses the risk-adjusted reports from UTHealth Houston/ Memorial Hermann System, UT Medical Branch, UT Southwestern and UT Health Science Center San Antonio. Data is available upon request through the Data Request Tool. For more information, please visit https://www.sts.org/sts-national-database#adult-cardiac-surgery-database.

NameDescription
Composite Quality RatingThis table holds star rating and quality information for CABG, AVR +/- CABG, MVRR +/- CABG and Multiprocedural procedures. The star ratings show surgical performance based on a combination of mortality and morbidity outcome measures.
CABG Process MeasuresThe process measures provide data on the frequency of usage of 5 NQF-endorsed measures among subsets of isolated CABG patients. The therapies are: i) preoperative beta blockade therapy, ii) use of IMA, iii) discharge anti-platelet medication, iv) discharge beta blockade therapy, and v) discharge anti- lipid medication.
CABG Outcome MeasuresThe outcome measures provide risk- adjusted analyses of mortality for CABG, AVR +/- CABG, MVRR +/- CABG and MultiV +/- CABG. Risk-adjusted analyses of the following morbidity measures for CABG are also provided: Deep sternal infection, Post-Op renal insuffiency, Surgical re-exploration, stroke/ cerebrovascular and Prolonged Intubation.
Risk Adjusted Data SummaryThis table contains data by year and by report release for CABG, AVR +/- CABG, MVRR +/- CABG , MultiV +/- CABG and Multiprocedural. Table includes observed rates (raw and risk-adjusted), odds ratios, observed to expected ratios for mortality and morbidity for each procedure group.
Data Summary - MetricsThis table contains  additional outcomes data for CABG, AVR +/- CABG, MVRR +/- CABG , MultiV +/- CABG and Multiprocedural by year and by report release on. Examples of data include demographics, readmission data, blood utilization.
