How long have you been with UT-HIP?
More than 3 years
Where are you located?
Houston, Texas
What inspired you to join the team?
I recognized the importance of UT‑HIP’s mission across the UT System and wanted to play a more active part in it. That led me to pursue the dedicated Security Analyst role so I could support the program’s ongoing growth.
What is your favorite thing about working with UT-HIP?
My favorite part of working with UT-HIP is the opportunity to collaborate with skilled teams across the UT System. Each campus brings its own strengths and perspectives, and working together toward a shared mission is both motivating and meaningful. Being part of that collective effort and contributing to the growth of UT-HIP is something I value greatly.
What is your role and how do you support UT-HIP?
As UT-HIP’s dedicated Security Analyst, I handle several different responsibilities that support our overall information security efforts.
24x7 Security Monitoring – I lead and participate in UT-HIP’s 24×7 security monitoring, which includes triaging, investigating, and responding to security alerts generated within the Azure platform.
HITRUST Compliance – I serve as the primary point of contact for all audits conducted for UT-HIP, including HITRUST assessments and internal audits performed by UT System.
Security Engineering – I review the platform’s infrastructure (servers, networking, etc) and provide security recommendations that meet information security compliance standards, both during projects and as part of ongoing threat hunting efforts.
Security Documentation – I develop UT-HIP’s Information Security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures in collaboration with the UT-HIP Executive Director and Chief Information Security Officer.
