TRSThe Teacher Retirement System of Texas is the largest public retirement system in Texas, serving more than 1.5 million people, including a large number of University of Texas employees across the state.

However, if you’ve tried calling TRS lately, you might have noticed just how busy they are.  TRS has recently initiated new systems for both their TRS Care Health Plan which provides insurance to school district employees and their Pension Line of Business. This has created much larger than normal call volumes for the agency.

If you need to reach the TRS regarding your retirement benefits, please call their dedicated, toll-free number at 1-800-223-8778 any time between Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.

To avoid long hold times, you may leave your number and a quick message and a representative will call you back as soon as they can.

Another means of learning about your TRS benefits is to establish a MyTRSaccount.  To register for this account, please visit www.trs.texas.gov and select the MyTRSbox in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

Mailing Address

You can always submit questions about your benefits in writing to TRS, 1000 Red River Street, Austin, Texas 78701-2698. TRS asks that you please include your social security number on all written correspondence mailed to TRS.
