UT System Regents to meet May 9-10

AUSTIN — The University of Texas System Board of Regents will meet Tuesday and Wednesday, May 9-10, in Austin. The meeting will be held on the ninth floor of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 W. 7^th St.

The agenda book and links to the live webcast for the meeting are posted online. Parking for news media is available through the guard kiosk on Colorado Street between 6^th and 7^th streets.

Tuesday, May 9

9:15 a.m. – Meeting of the Board in open session

• Report on creative industry partnerships by Dr. Ferran Prat, vice president for strategic industry ventures at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.

10 a.m. – Finance and Planning Committee

• Discussion and appropriate action related to proposed appointments to the Board of Directors of The University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO).
   
• Discussion and appropriate action regarding authorization to change the legal name of UTIMCO to The University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company.

11:15 a.m. – Audit, Compliance and Management Review Committee

• Report on the UT System Health Intelligence Platform, formerly known as the UT System Clinical Data Network, by Zain Kazmi, UT System assistant vice chancellor and chief analytics officer, and Dr. Robert Murphy, UTHealth associate dean of applied informatics.
   
• Report on the UT System Faculty Advisory Council Physician Burnout Prevention Initiative by Dr. Jonathan Cheng, associate professor at UT Southwestern and chair of the UT System Faculty Advisory Council.

3:45 p.m. – Academic Affairs Committee

• Consider approval to establish a Doctor of Philosophy degree program in Mexican American and Latina/o Studies at UT Austin.
   
• Consider approval to establish a Bachelor of Science degree program in Chemical Engineering and also one in Electrical Engineering at UT Permian Basin.
   
• Consider approval to establish a Master of Science degree program in Civil Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy degree program in Clinical Psychology at UT Rio Grande Valley.
   
• Consider approval to establish a Doctor of Philosophy degree program in Clinical Psychology at UT Tyler.
   
• Report on the inaugural Strategic Plan for UT Rio Grande Valley by President Guy Bailey and Dr. Havidán Rodríguez, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and chair of the strategic planning committee.

• Discussion of UT System priorities and budget process.
   
• Presentation of certificate of appreciation to UT MD Anderson Cancer Center President Ronald A. DePinho.
   
• Presentation of certificate of appreciation to Student Regent Varun P. Joseph.
