UT System Regents to meet Aug. 24-25

AUSTIN — The University of Texas System Board of Regents will meet Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 24-25, in Austin. The meeting will be held on the ninth floor of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 W. 7^th St.

The agenda book and links to the live webcast for the meeting are posted online. Parking for news media is available at the guard kiosk on Colorado Street between 6^th and 7^th streets.

Wednesday, Aug. 24

9 a.m. – Technology Transfer and Research Committee

• Update on the Office of Technology Commercialization strategic initiatives by Julie Goonewardene, associate vice chancellor for Innovation and Strategic Investment and managing director of the UT Horizon Fund.

9:30 a.m. – Finance and Planning Committee

10:30 a.m. – Facilities Planning and Construction Committee

11:30 a.m. – Executive session

1 p.m. – Audit, Compliance and Management Review Committee

2 p.m. – Academic Affairs Committee

• Presentation by UT Rio Grande Valley President Guy Bailey on the White Coat Ceremony for the School of Medicine’s inaugural class.
• Consider approval of preliminary authority for a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology at UT Tyler.
• Report on the UT Austin Dell Medical School by UT Austin President Greg Fenves and Dell Medical School Dean Clay Johnston.

3 p.m. – Health Affairs Committee 

• Report on activities and progress of the UT Health Care Enterprise by Leon Leach, executive vice president at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Leslie Carruth, associate vice chancellor for health affairs at UT System.

3:30 p.m. – Meeting of the Board in open session

• Annual meeting with officers of the UT System Faculty Advisory Council.
• Recognition of the educators who are receiving the 2016 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award. They will each receive $25,000 for excellence and innovation in the classroom.

• Review and possible action regarding UT Austin, UT Dallas, UT El Paso, UT San Antonio, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and UT System Administration campus carry rules, regulations and provisions.
• Consider approval of UT System operating budget for FY 2017.
