1. Title
Institutions Comprising The University of Texas System
2. Rule and Regulation
Sec. 1 Official Titles of institutions. The U.T. System is composed of the institutions set forth below. To ensure uniformity and consistency of usage throughout the U.T. System, the institutions shall be listed in the following order and the following titles (short form of title follows) shall be used:
1.1 The University of Texas System Board of Regents (U.T. System Board of Regents)
1.2 The University of Texas System Administration (U.T. System Administration)
1.3 Institutions of the U. T. System are:
(a) The University of Texas at Arlington (U.T. Arlington)
(b) The University of Texas at Austin (U.T. Austin), including Dell Medical School
(c) The University of Texas at Dallas (U.T. Dallas)
(d) The University of Texas at El Paso (U.T. El Paso)
(e) The University of Texas Permian Basin (U.T. Permian Basin)
(f) The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (U.T. Rio Grande Valley), including the U.T. Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine
(g) The University of Texas at San Antonio (U.T. San Antonio)
(h) Stephen F. Austin State University, a Member of the University of Texas System (Stephen F. Austin State University)
(i) The University of Texas at Tyler (U.T. Tyler), including The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler
(j) The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (U.T. Southwestern Medical Center)
(k) The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (U.T. Medical Branch - Galveston)
(l) The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (U.T. Health Science Center - Houston)
(m) The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (U.T. Health Science Center - San Antonio)
(n) The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (U.T.M.D. Anderson Cancer Center)
Sec. 2 Other Entities Within an Institution.
2.1 The establishment of a college or school requires approval by the Board of Regents, upon recommendation of the president, the appropriate Executive Vice Chancellor, and the Chancellor.
2.2 The establishment of a department or similar academic unit requires approval by the appropriate Executive Vice Chancellor, upon the recommendation of the president.
2.3 Approval of the naming of a college, school, department, and other entity in honor of a donor or other individual shall be according to Regents’ Rule 80307.
2.4 A nonsubstantive change to the name of an established college, school, or department shall be approved by the appropriate Executive Vice Chancellor.
