This process - learning - is hard work; but the essence of that hard work is the joy of knowledge and discovery, and a world of wonder and endless possibilities.
My approach to teaching is rooted in the idea that my primary task as a teacher is to build a framework that fosters the development of student knowledge, skills, and attitudes, so that the joy of discovery in learning might follow. I work to establish an environment that is simultaneously nurturing and challenging, addressing individual differences in identity, learning styles, background, and prior knowledge. Teaching is not a soliloquy; it is a dialogue where teacher and student are collaborators and active participants in the process.
