In response to the spread of the novel Coronavirus, healthcare workers, politicians, business leaders, educators, and the public have taken extreme measures, including social distancing and self-isolation, to ensure the continued health and wellbeing of those we love and those whom we will never meet. However, while social distancing and self-isolation are necessary at the moment, these measures also have psychological side effects. Dr. Mary McNaughton-Cassill, a professor of clinical psychology at The University of Texas at San Antonio who was quarantined for 14 days after returning from a study abroad program in Italy, provides helpful tips on how we can maintain a healthy perspective during this time in a recent article, “Maintaining Perspective in Coronavirus Panic,” published in Men’s Health. Dr. McNaughton-Cassill is a Fellow of The University of Texas System Academy of Distinguished Teachers. Read the article here.
