Neil Gray, Ph.D., received his B.S. in Chemistry from The University of Texas at Tyler in 1990 and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University in 1994. After completing a Department of Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship at Los Alamos National Laboratory, he joined the faculty at UT Tyler. Dr. Gray currently serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He is a recipient of numerous teaching awards, including The Piper Professorship for Excellence in Teaching and the Chancellor's Council Outstanding Teaching Award. Dr. Gray serves as co-director for the UTeach program at UT Tyler which is dedicated to preparing high-quality STEM teachers. His research interests are in the areas of nanoparticles, polymer surface modification, medicinal chemistry, and chemical education.
