Thank you to all who applied for the Summer 2019 program! Applications are being reviewed now through March 11.
The Summer Internship Program in Philanthropy was launched in 2016 as the first system-wide internship program in the nation for students interested in exploring a career in philanthropy.
During this 10-week internship program, students receive a curriculum-based learning experience to gain an understanding of fundraising in higher education. Through hands-on projects and working with development staff, interns become professionally prepared to enter a career in philanthropic programs, which may include fundraising, alumni and donor relations, special events, research, data analysis, or communications.
Please explore more information below about the application process, our previous interns, and their extraordinary work.
"It was a very informative and life changing experience that, if given the opportunity, I'd take again."
- Marco, 2018 Intern at UT Rio Grande Valley
"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at UTMB and working with UT System throughout the summer! I would highly recommend this internship to anyone who is interested in Development, or who like me has never even heard of this field!
- Sarah, 2018 Intern at UTMB Health
“I walked into this internship with a vague understanding of higher education fundraising, and walked out with transferable knowledge and skills that can be applied to any nonprofit setting.”
- Jiana, 2017 Intern at UT Dallas
“The program was a great experience. I enjoyed the freedom and the responsibility that came with the job. I felt like I was treated as an equal, and everyone treated me with respect and warmth.”
