Alan Werchan - Biography

Alan Werchan has been with the U. T. System since 1994, including serving in a budget role since 1998.  Within the U. T. System, Alan previously spent time in what is now the Office of Employee Benefits and in financial reporting.  Before joining the U. T. System, Alan spent six years as an auditor for a Big Four public accounting firm and a prominent Austin firm with a specialization in auditing and advising school districts and other local governmental entities.  In addition to Alan’s current service on the Board for Church Extension of the Texas District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and in leadership roles within his local congregation, he previously served as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Regents for Concordia University Texas.

After attending Concordia University, Alan graduated in 1988 from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master in Professional Accounting.  Alan achieved the designation of Certified Public Accountant in 1989.  Professional memberships for Alan include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Association of State Senior College and University Business Officers.
