Regents and Trustees to Meet in Brownsville on September 27

The Partnership Advisory Committee of the Texas Southmost College and The University of Texas at Brownsville Educational Partnership will hold a meeting in Brownsville on Tuesday, September 27. The committee is composed of members of the Board of Trustees of Texas Southmost College and members of the Academic Affairs Committee of The University of Texas System Board of Regents.

The meeting will be held on the UT Brownsville / Texas Southmost College campus in the Education and Business Complex, Acacia Room, located at 80 Fort Brown. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. and adjourn at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The meeting agenda is available on the UT System website.

In 1991, Texas Southmost College and UT Brownsville entered into a unique arrangement to maximize resources and bring additional educational opportunities to the communities of the Lower Rio Grande Valley. The partnership offers students a seamless educational process by eliminating barriers when transferring between the two institutions located on the same campus.

The partnership provides a single faculty, a single administration, and a single staff to carry out more efficiently the combined missions of a community college and a university. It brings together a governor-appointed board of regents, which is the governing board that operates all programs and services of the partnership, and a locally elected community college board of trustees, which owns the campus and monitors the lower-division programs, to address the educational needs of the area.
