UT System News Media Advisory
AUSTIN – In honor of National Volunteer Week (April 18-24), the University of Texas System Administration and all 15 of its campuses will participate in volunteer activities in the respective communities they call home. The system-wide initiative, titled "United to Serve," will involve students, faculty, administrators, and staff throughout the UT System. "Although our institutions have a long history of providing countless volunteer hours in their communities, it is exciting that this will be the first coordinated effort on a system-wide and state-wide basis," Chancellor Mark G. Yudof said. "We are proud of those participating in these volunteer events, and we look forward to establishing this initiative as an annual event." A special website has been developed to highlight the various volunteer events taking place in each community. The website address is http://www.utsystem.edu/ocr/UnitedToServe/. For more information concerning a particular volunteer event in your area, please contact the public affairs office of your local UT institution. A listing of all campus public affairs offices may be viewed at http://www.utsystem.edu/news/NIOChart.htm. The UT System has 15 campuses, including nine academic and six health institutions, an enrollment exceeding 170,000 students, more than 80,000 employees, and an annual operating budget of $7.8 billion. |
