Dr. William (Bill) R. Fannin was named president ad interim of UT Brownsville in 2014. Previously, Dr. Fannin served for 18 years as Provost and Vice President of UT Permian Basin. Prior to joining UT Permian Basin as the Vice President for Academic Affairs in 1996, Dr. Fannin was Dean of the College of Business at Idaho State University. During his career, he has also served in faculty and administrative positions at Idaho State University, the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and the University of Maine. Dr. Fannin earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Texas A&M University (1980), a Masters of Business Administration (1976) and a Bachelor of Arts in Government (1973) from the University of Texas at Austin. His teaching and research is primarily focused on issues of strategic management and international business. In addition to his work at UT Permian Basin, Dr. Fannin is currently serving as the President for the Texas Council of Chief Academic Officers. Bill and his wife, Valerie have two adult children: their daughter, Addley, and their son, Stewart.
