Each month, Get to Know… will feature two members of UT System Administration’s talented staff as they offer insights into their lives in and out of the office. Each new edition will be published here.
Kris Kwolek
Associate General Counsel
Office of General Counsel
What are your primary job responsibilities?
I provide advice about health laws and regulations, review institution agreements regarding health operations, resolve liability claims asserted against institution providers, and manage litigation and licensing matters involving institution providers.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I enjoy helping our institutions solve problems, from reviewing contracts for the Board of Regents to helping revise medical school, dental school, faculty or other (there are so many) bylaws that further their missions to educate and deliver health care.
What advice would you give someone who is new to UT System?
You will never stop learning about the operations, departments and personnel at the UT System and our institutions.
What do you do to disconnect or de-stress?
I like to be active and get outdoors. I do a lot of swimming (Barton Springs in the morning — winter or summer — is one of my favorite Austin things, cycling (often to work, though it’s admittedly not very far) and running (it’s a great way to see Austin … and find out where the hills are). Other times when I just want to relax, I read or play video games (somebody has to make sure the games are appropriate for my kids!).
