AUSTIN — The University of Texas System Board of Regents will hold a special meeting via telephone conference call at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, on the ninth floor of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 W. 7th St.

The Board will meet in executive session to consider recommendations from the search advisory committee tasked with assisting the Board in the selection of a President for UT Tyler and may take action in open session to invite individuals to interview with the Board.

Department of Defense chooses Austin for Defense Innovation Unit Experimental

AUSTIN—U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter joined University of Texas System Chancellor William H. McRaven Wednesday at Capital Factory incubator to announce that Austin will be the third location of the department’s in-house tech startup, the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental, or DIUx.

UT Horizon Fund invests $150K to fund medical device that repairs blood vessels

AUSTIN—The UT Horizon Fund recently invested $150,000 to fund Cardiovate, a San Antonio-based startup that is using technology from two University of Texas System institutions to commercialize a medical device to treat vascular diseases by repairing blood vessels.
