The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will enroll its inaugural class of first-year students in the fall of 2015. The new university will combine the talent, assets and resources of UT Brownsville, UT-Pan American and the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC), along with other resources, to create a new model of university excellence that will become a global leader in innovation, education, research and health care. Students admitted to or currently enrolled at UT Brownsville and UT-Pan American will be automatically admitted to the new university. New students may apply for UTRGV in late summer at www.applytexas.org . Students applying for the spring or summer semesters of 2015 will continue to use the UTPA or UTB Apply Texas applications. When and how do I apply to UTRGV?
  • Undergraduate students can apply for UTRGV's 2015 fall semester at www.applytexas.org beginning later this summer 2014. 
  • Undergraduate students applying for the spring and summer semesters of 2015 will continue to apply through UTPA and UTB.
  • Graduate students can apply for UTRGV’s 2015 fall semester through the Embark application system which can be accessed through the Office of Graduate Studies at UTPA or at UTB beginning later this summer 2014.
  • Graduate students applying for the spring and summer semesters of 2015 will continue to apply through UTPA and UTB.
What are the admission requirements for UTRGV?
  • Admission requirements are expected to be approved and released late summer 2014. Check back here for more information.
Will UTRGV have an admissions application fee?
  • All fees, including the admissions application fee, will be published late summer 2014. Check back here for more information.
I’m taking the ACT/SAT in June, where do I send my scores?
  • Until further notice, continue sending ACT/SAT scores to either UTB or UTPA (codes listed below). When codes are available for the new institution they will be published here.

What programs will be offered at UTRGV?
  • UTRGV degree programs are expected to be recommended to the UT System Board of Regents in May 2014, followed by a request for approval by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in July 2014. At that point, we will post the list of programs that will be offered.
What type of financial assistance/scholarships will be available at UTRGV?
  • UTRGV will continue participation in federal and state financial aid programs such as Pell Grant, Texas Grant, Federal Direct Student Loans, Work-Study, Hazlewood Exemption and many more. UTRGV will also offer institutional scholarship and aid programs. The composition and requirements for those programs are in the development stages. Details on these programs will be announced later this year.
