McRaven sends letter to Gov. Abbott regarding guns on campus legislation

Chancellor Bill McRaven has sent a letter to Governor Greg Abbott regarding legislation relating to the presence of concealed handguns on university campuses. The letter was also delivered to Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and House Speaker Joe Straus.

The letter outlines Chancellor McRaven’s concerns about the presence of concealed handguns on campuses of institutions of higher education and reiterates issues former Chancellor Cigarroa shared in letters to former Governor Rick Perry in 2011 and 2013 when the matter was also before the Texas Legislature.
