Regents to Meet in Brownsville on October 18

The Partnership Advisory Committee of the Texas Southmost College and The University of Texas at Brownsville Educational Partnership will hold a meeting in Brownsville on Monday, October 18. The meeting will be held on the UT Brownsville/Texas Southmost College campus in Gorgas Hall, Gorgas Board Room, located at 80 Fort Brown.

The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. and includes the following agenda items:

  • Report on the Futures Commission
  • Report on upcoming Bond Election
  • Review of the legislative agenda for the 79th Legislative Session

The agenda will be available on the UT System website.

In 1991, Texas Southmost College and UT Brownsville entered into a unique arrangement to maximize resources and bring additional educational opportunities to the communities of the Lower Rio Grande Valley. The partnership offers students a seamless educational process by eliminating barriers when transferring between the two institutions located on the same campus.

The partnership provides a single faculty, a single administration, and a single staff to carry out more efficiently the combined missions of a community college and a university. It brings together a governor-appointed board of regents, which is the governing board that operates all programs and services of the partnership, and a locally elected community college board of trustees, which owns the campus and monitors the lower-division programs, to address the educational needs of the area.
