The U.T. System Spending Reduction Plan - to be discussed at today's conference.

The University of Texas System will hold a news conference on Thursday, February 6, 2003, to discuss the system's report to the state on budget cuts for the current fiscal year.

The news conference will be at 3 p.m. on the 9th floor of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 West 7th Street, Austin.

Officials from the U.T. System will discuss system-wide actions in response to directions from state leaders to cut 7 percent from budgets for the rest of the current fiscal year. Thursday is the deadline for reporting to the state on plans for the budget cuts.

Please note the following guidelines for the news conference:

  • Reporters will be able to participate either in person or by telephone conference call.
  • Reporters in Austin are asked to attend in person in order to free up telephone ports for others.
