In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of The University of Texas at El Paso, university faculty, staff, alumni, students, and leaders gathered at the State Capitol on Tuesday.
UT El Paso began as a mining school on Sept. 23, 1914, and was later renamed Texas Western college and then The University of Texas at El Paso in 1967. The university will celebrate its centennial in 2014.
UTEP's 100-year history is briefly described in a pamphlet titled "Layers of History at The University of Texas at El Paso." Download a high-res version here.
