The University of Texas System Board of Regents discussed and took action on numerous agenda items on August 22 and 23. Highlights of the meeting include:

• A one-year update on Chancellor Cigarroa’s Framework for Advancing Excellence
• Sixty-five faculty members from institutions across The University of Texas System were honored as recipients of the 2012 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award
• Approval of an Incentive Plan for the UT System Presidents and System Administration Executive Officers
• Approval of several new degree programs across the System: a Ph.D. degree in African and African Diaspora Studies at UT Austin, a Ph.D. degree program in Statistics at UT Austin, M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs in Biomedical Engineering at UTEP and a Doctor of Nurse Practice degree at UT Tyler
