We began the New Year with terrific cause for celebration. Philanthropy across The University of Texas System reached an all-time high of $1.12 billion in fiscal year 2011, with gifts from nearly 227,000 alumni and other individual donors. Both of these figures are unprecedented, and if you consider that UT institutions accomplished this during difficult economic times, it is an impressive endorsement of support for the System’s universities and health institutions.
Leading the way for this banner year was UT Austin, which ranked third in the nation among public institutions of higher learning, and UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, which ranked 20th.
We are delighted and very grateful that, even in challenging economic times, alumni and friends of UT institutions invested in high-quality education, research, and health care for the people of Texas.
With great respect,
