Office of Communications

With 190,900 students and more than 80,000 faculty & staff members, The University of Texas System's 15 campuses are spread across the entire state of Texas. Here, students pursue their futures, faculty members teach a new generation of Texans, and researchers explore the secrets of the universe, from nanoscience to galaxies to the human condition. Here, on nine academic and six health campuses, are countless stories that need to be told.

The Office of Communications' charge — and privilege — is to find those stories and tell them. Using a variety of media, such as print, the web, and e-mail communications, Communications markets and publicizes the news, little-known facts, discoveries, changes and human-interest stories on UT campuses.  The office strives to use as many different media as possible to tell the stories in the 15 institutions that are transforming our state and our future.

Communications is responsible for the design of the UT System Web site, as well as for planning, content and design of our quarterly online magazine State of the System and e-mail updates from the UT System. Communications also produces stories for the Web site and other venues about research, education, and groundbreaking efforts within the UT System's 15 institutions. The office also aids other UT System departments in their communications efforts.

Each of the UT System's institutions has its own history and mission, but all are equally committed to providing greater opportunities and top-flight education to their students. Every day, there are stories of unlimited possibilities on the 15 campuses. The Office of Communications is determined to tell as many of these stories as possible.
